Struggling

Hi brand new to this. Not sure how to navigate. Been in the rooms for 13 years. Accumulated a couple years here and there. Am I the unconstitutionally one that is incapable.

I don't believe you are. You wouldn't be here if that was true. You might not be completely ready yet.

Welcome! If you are real serious about quitting and are willing to do whatever it takes you have come to a very good place! Keep posting and reading.

I should be. I've lost so much. I do well for a bit, then feel lonely and drink. Are there other programs. No one calls me when I drink. I think that's when I need them most.

Thanks. I have done everything suggested in AA and yet I drink after months. I hate being alone. I don't think I'll ever get this. I don't know. Thanks for responding

No doubt drinking can cost each one of us everything. That is why sobriety is awesome! We have so much to gain. I enjoyed feeling hopeful again and wondering what the "new, sober me" would look like. Being stuck drinking only ensured my isolation and loneliness. I'm glad you are here!

Sad49,

I do the same thing....I go for weeks or months without drinking, and then I see that I am still alone. I get so bored that my mind say's "go back to your old friend". and, I do.

Problem is, I am now alone and sad, empty, sick, scared, and still alone.

you said - people don't call you when you drink. that's not exactly how support groups work - to suspect and then intervene WHEN a person is drinking. ideally you would call someone - or post here - before you drink and talk it through and get lots of suggestions on other things to do INSTEAD of drinking.

you mention lonely and alone - and then turning to drink to fill that void.

but it doesn't work - does it?

this is a terrific community you have found. and i hope you stay and start your journey to sober AND happy.
