First time online
I would first say congrats to whom founded this website and then that it's the first time I try to open myself and ask for mmh "help" . I'm a 22 guy from Italy and well I have to admit that I have a problem with alcohol since 3 years. First of all you all have to know that in Italy is legally drink at 16 and our culture is kind of different. I mean that since I was a kid I tasted the wine and I started drinking it at 14 during the meals. It's normal drink 3-4 glasses of wine every single meal, well sometimes even a bottle. I don't know how this forum works and I won't tell you all the story of my life. Basically I live alone in a big city but I grew up in a small town, I got a great work and I also went to college but I quit. Something X happened and well I was alone, I never had feelings with my family, I don't trust my friends because some are and went in Jail and some are just ass*****. I only had talks with some girlfriends and well with some stranger when I was drunk. I don't know why I'm posting this, I just felt like: If I see that other people feel like me maybe I won't feel anymore alone. This is the point: I'm an alcoholic. It started 3 years ago. I had a trouble and well I remember I got drunk with a bottle of wine.. then I kept drinking for everything; If I'm sad I drink, if I'm happy I drink and if I'm neutral well I drink just to get drunk and avoid my mind. When I'm pretty sure that the next morning I won't have to wake up early I drink a full bottle of whisky and when I have to I just drink half. People will never think that of me because I'm so workaholic, I'm a good person.. I only drink when I'm alone maybe because I'm scared of being alone with myself. I never drink on work and I never drank when I was supposed to drive, I mean I have this self control. It's like that: when I know nobody will need me or when I know I can be free, I get drunk. I also had sleep disorders and for a while depression. Next year I'm gonna leave Italy for not come back anymore. I want to erase everything. Well as I said it's my first time online so if you want to know something please tell me or if I made some mistakes..

Ciao, Matt. Da dov'e vieni? Ho visuto un po di tempo a Genova, 6 anni di essere esatto. Anch'io ho bevuto sempre quando ero sola. Hai trovato il posto giusto qua, fidati di me. Io capisco la cultura italiana. Non sei solo.

At 22 I was having the same trouble with knowing when to stop. I never tried to do anything about it (the way you are) so I kept going for many years. My life was never what it should have been because I spent so much of it numb & in a fog. I'm happy you're looking at what alcohol is doing to your life. You're never alone.

Hi Matt. You are blessed to have realized so young that you have a problem. You are doubly blessed because you are doing something about it. You will have a wonderful life if you can beat the drink.
( PS Your country is beautiful. I have been blessed myself to have visited it twice. Yet, if you feel called to leave it and journey to a new country, that is good too! There are many beautiful wonderful places in this great world.)
