I'm back

Sorry for my drunk post last night 'beyond help'. 2 bottles of wine will cause stupid online rants. Today I'm FINALLY going to put together a plan. I'm full of anxiety and remorse today. I'm paranoid I've got cirrhosis as my liver area is tender. I'm so scared of the damage I've done. I could really use some success stories from people who have turned their health around.

Hi there. I use to be a daily drinker myself. My drink of choice was vodka. At the height of my abuse I was drinking over a pint a day, I weighed over 400 lbs and I had elevated liver levels on my blood work. I got sober back in June of 2011. I later lost 150 lbs, and started eating better. I had blood work done last month and my liver has returned back to a normal level. I feel very lucky that I'm still here after all of the things that I have put my body through. I know that it is hard to break that habit, but you will see that it does get better with time. The hardest part is that first week. After that it gets easier as the days go on. I wish you all the best, and I hope that you can beat this addiction.

You know that the best thing you can do for your health is to stop drinking, so I'm glad you're working on your plan.

Well, I almost died. I was hospitalized for 7 days and they had to do dialysis twice, etc. Liver was fatty, etc. It's 10 months later. It can be done. And, yes, that whole area was tender. You might want to see a doctor. Time can turn it around. it took about 6 months for my hair to return to normal.

Thanks for the responses. I just feel so panicked that I've left it too late and done irreversible damage. I've got a young son with autism. I need to be around for him.

Sober Nun,

I'm glad you are back. You can do this!!!

Our bodies give us warning signs when it's time to give it up. I'm glad you are listening to yours.

Move forward and don't look back!

you are not too far gone. don't let those negative thoughts in your head. you are now on the road to recovery. you will be the best mom for your son.

your plan must be solid. bullet proof. and you will need to go the extra mile, every day, to protect your sobriety. from all sides. 100% commitment. want sobriety more than you want to drink. you CAN do this.

Welcome back SN! You can definitely do this. I have been sober 15 and a half months, and both my physical and emotional health are much better. It really does get easier with time. When I first got sober I was obsessed with the idea that I couldn't drink, and thought about not drinking many times throughout the day.
I have really focused on recovery, and healthy life choices, and now I don't think of drinking as an option, and it is very rare when the thought of drinking pops into my mind.

You can do this for you and for your son.

SN - Welcome back.

22 days ago the right side under my ribs was throbbing so bad as well...

22 days later and I feel a lot better with no pain.

You can do this!

In 22 months I'm hopeful I can reverse things completely.
