On Higher Powers, God, Resistance and 'Coincidence'
THis morning in an AA meeting the topic (as it frequently does) of God came up. I'd shared about my own resistance to the "God Thing" because while I had grown spiritual, I still had negative associations with "God" because of the way it was presented to me as a child and in various Christian settings.
My good friend and role model (20+ years sober) then shared a few minutes later how he'd been just like me - but how at one point in the depth of his most despairing times, he'd managed to connect with his own channel to a higher power and how it had changed everything.
In that moment, my phone began buzzing with text messages.
And I excused myself from the meeting welling up with emotion.
Because while my friend was talking about his Higher Power and sharing in response to me - my wife had gone into labor.
HERE WE GOOOOOO!!!!
(funny how these Higher Power things go sometimes.... innit?)

I also never liked the consept of a 'god' much. I'd say if such exists then good but it can be an addiction, just like booze, I guess. Some people are exhaustingly addicted to 'god', that will do any irresposible or unwise deed.
I believe that God, has much greater of a detail of their plan before embarking here and that it has much more power on each individual therefore. If God is life, God is force. Then what is there to be afraid of?

Brief update....
Our little girl joined us on her journey yesterday at 2:43 pm.
Mom and baby are well, though little one is In NICU For a day or two because she got pretty stressed during the delivery. Nothing serious, just needs to recover from a rough start.
What a glorious, blessed time to be sober.
Life matters.... life is rich and beautiful and incredible and being present for it is the most cherished gift we can give ourselves.
May you all have a beautiful, sober day.

What I've learned in getting sober is that there definitely is some sort of power greater than me that I can absolutely rely on and that there are no coincidences. I now see miracles all around me.
Congratulations, FreeOwl! Happy for you!
