Seeking Support & Sobriety
Hello friends! This is my very first post. I come here in search of support as I begin my quest for sobriety. It's only been a couple of days since my last drink. I knew I needed to quit drinking a long time ago, but it took getting arrested this past week for DUI to make me realize that booze is destroying my life and causing me to hurt the ones I love. I hope to gain much knowledge and support from all of you, This seems like a good place. Thanks.
Welcome to SR BadgerFan, there is lots of support and advice to be found here and a lot of people in your situation too.
You might also want to check out the "Class of March 2017" on the same Newcomers forum. As the name suggests it is for people who quit this month.
Good luck Badger Fan

Unfortunately, you're so right. Why does it have to be that way? I knew I was heading for big trouble, yet it took me getting arrested to finally make a change. Human nature I guess?

Cause I'm an alcoholic and I made every excuse in the book to keep it up. One day I had enough. Hopefully you make use of this experience.
Years ago, before I would have considered myself an alcoholic, I passed out while driving and crashed my car. No one was hurt and I got away with it. Meaning no dui or consequences. It didn't stop me. That's stupid.

Welcome BadgerFan!
Dui's are no fun but It gets better. I have no doubt that my Dui last summer saved my life. I was really in a bad place, and it pushed me to help and support I needed. 9 months later, my life has improved in every way possible. Keep your head up. Lots of great helpful people here.

Great to meet you, BadgerFan. You're among friends who care & want to encourage you.
I, too, had to have a crisis before I paid attention to what I was doing to myself. Even then I was a slow learner, & took a while to admit I had to stop all together. There will never be any control, it can never be fun or relaxing again. Life is so much better with a clear head and eyes wide open.

Welcome, BadgerFan! I'm also a big fan of Bucky.
Sorry to hear about your DUI. I got one in 2003, but kept drinking for 5+ years.
If you want to get and stay sober for good, you'll find plenty of support here.
