Day 2 anxiety
I woke up feeling great. 2 hours into the work day and I'm getting serious anxiety. Mostly because I'm a bit behind. I know it's because I've been drinking heavy and wasn't functioning 100% at work. The only things that will help is not to drink and work hard.
Ups and downs are very common in early days. Right?

Oh my, yes. Ups and downs are very common. My emotions were all over the place early on. I'd go from euphoria to anxiety and crying sometimes several times a day. Your brain needs time to stabilize. Be kind to yourself. Get your work done the best you can. Rest a lot when you aren't working. Try to exercise a little. Eat well. Drink plenty of water. I know it all sounds like common sense, and I'm not trying to be patronizing, but I actually had to force myself to do these things in the early days, and I needed reminders from others. My mind was all over the place, as I'm sure yours is. It will settle down.

Yep. And drinking again will only start you back at go. Maybe call someone off that list you got in AA. I know that's really hard but sometimes it helps.
Eat something and lay off coffee. That should help too. Hang in there.

I would suggest not letting anything you think or feel in the first couple of weeks convince you that it is permanent and because you don't want to feel it you better have a drink to get rid of it!

One thing that helped me with work anxiety was understanding that 'my perception' of my work output was not the same as the real world.
Once you are sober, there is nothing but improvement in all facets of your life, including work. Normies get behind in their work too, but they don't beat themselves up over it as it's just the way of the world.
I found that I had a lot of guilt around my behaviour (particularly work output) which was important to acknowledge but unfounded in reality. People noticed the attitude change more than anything
If you were still vaguely functional at work while drinking, imagine how much better you are going to be when you are free of the anchor around your neck!

Hi Sinderos
Yesterday was my day 2 after a heavy binge, I struggled at work and after spending a few hours on something which should not have challenged me I just left it. Spoke to my boss this morning, explained I had something more important to finish and that I would complete the previous work as soon as I had time. He was fine with this. My day was busy but my anxiety decreased as I just thought if I don't finish something there's always tomorrow, in the end I had quite a productive day.
Most of the time things we are getting anxious about don't matter to others, so just do one thing at a time and you will have a better day than if your worrying about all you have to do. Also make sure you take a break and drink plenty.
I hope tomorrow's better for you.
