Today is Day 70

70 Days and going strong. I will not lie - at times I miss having a drink but I get past it and keep going. Cravings last about 20-30 minutes and one thing I have learned is that "Just because I might feel like having a drink does not mean that I have to have one".

The positives :

Zero Hangovers

Saved $3500 -I did the math - I have saved approx $3500 in 70 days. Was spending about $350/week on drinking. It was an expensive form of entertainment. Going out to drink multiple times a week as well as Sat/Sun gets very expensive. Just the tips alone!....

Feel much more optimistic again. I had developed a feeling of "impending doom". I was always thinking that something bad was going to happen. That has really diminished and I am back to a more positive thought process now. I like that much better!

Back at the gym

Much more productive at work...Mondays are actually an added day in my life now as opposed to a "Oh God let me get through this and I will start my week on Tuesday".

It feels good - I am REALLY glad I have started the path and I wish everyone well and thank you for the support!

Congrats FLguy - 70 days / 10 weeks is fantastic and a great way to start 2017 !!

Cravings are just that and like you say they pass no matter how strong they maybe - we just know in our minds that they are never going to be worth giving into no matter what.

Have a great and sober New Year.

Congratulations. Yes one of the most underappreciated things about getting sober is that you are not flushing all of that hard earned money down the toilet!
