What are you eating

I've been eating all manner of fruit snacks and low quality strawberry licorice. I ran out of those tonight so I grabbed the dried mango and it is doing me just fine. What are you eating compulsively in recovery?

I'll just be happy to be able to eat, had a piece of plain bread in the last two days, LOL.

Everyone is different. I eat through almost anything except heartbreak. If I'm not eating you know something is dreadfully wrong. I used to get accused of faking being sick because I'd stay home ill but still have a healthy appetite. Just how I am

The last few times I stopped drinking I ate pints of ice cream. I'm pretty relieved that's not happening right now.

I crave pickles, lemonade, plain lemons, hot sauce, soups of all kinds, chewy and gummy snacks, and fruit, oh and fatty pork products. AND LaCroix. Just drinking cases of LaCroix. And I'm only three days in this time.

Eskimo bars, cookies, nuts. I am teying to keep the snacking down to a minimum.
It's that midnight insomnia that get me everytime.
I get up for cheese and crackers every single night between 1-2.
Maybe I should try those befor i go to bed?

Maybe. Or maybe try not to control so much and allow yourself to indulge. Sounds like you are tackling a lot already.

I will not be putting a cap on my macaroni and cheese consumption for a couple weeks. It is an emotionally comforting food during recovery for me.....

I'm eating a lot of salty snacks, but only in moderation. I actually weigh all my food these days. I allow myself 2 1 oz. servings most days, sometimes 3 if I'm celebrating!

My favorite salty snacks:
roasted peanuts in the shell
Blue Diamond almonds, either the wasabi or the habanero bbq
Cheez-Its
Wheat Thins, the tomato and basil ones
Jalapeno Cheetos, the ones in the green bag
Doritos, the taco flavor. I'd assumed they'd stopped making these, but they're still around. They remind me of the carefree days of my youth.

Fruit Juice, cookies, cake, Ice cream, chocolate, ect. When I drank, I used to pride myself on not having dessert. Now I know why.

Lulu are you sick to your stomach because of withdrawal? Hopefully you can start slowly eating soon. Maybe something you love like pizza.

Now I want pizza

I have a bunch of satsumas I'm going to eat for breakfast with my coffee.

Then my roommate and I are going to go out on a house day to grocery shop, move stuff around the house, and clean. BUT THAT MEANS we will be driving by our favorite Vietnamese spot and I am developing a craving for lemongrass squid

I've been sober about a year, I eat anything and everything and love it. When I was recovering from a bender I had to force myself to eat and it was horrible.

I've mentioned on here before how important I think nutrition is when recovering. Some people I'm sure have no problem, but for those of us who couldn't eat when recovering, its horrible. I believe it delays recovery.

Not so much what I've been eating compared to what I've been drinking. I drink so much tea these days. Herbal and caffeinated. Whenever I go somewhere where I know drinking will be happening I always make sure to bring my tea so I'll have something to sip on. At the end of the day I always have a cup or two of herbal tea before bed. Has helped me greatly to avoid relapsing!

Thanks

Nobenders!
My Mom quit smoking at my age and gained 100 lbs.
Everytime I quit; once I gain 20 lbs, i decide to smoke again.
After 50, it's nearly impossible to get the weight off.
Being weight conscious is so much like early sobriety. Doing both at once qualifies me for an extended stay at the local Psychiatric Centre.

I want some of those spicey mango's now. Where do I find them? Trader Joes?

Yep those are the Trader Joe's mangoes. Yeah I have to return to my tried and true diet today. Little to no starches, lots of fruit and veg, fish, eggs and meat
