Day 1
Day 1
I did not expect to have to make another day one. After 14 months I fell off the wagon. A sip two weeks ago. Then a bottle of asian liquor that my girl left in a fridge. Then I bought my own six pack this week and had two a night. Then yesterday I had a six pack in one evening.
If i don't stop now, I will be right where I was.
I don't want to post self pity. I don't want to post excuses.
I effed up.
I am back here to start again and to hold myself accountable.
I love you all and thanks in advance for your support.

Hey good job for not letting it spiral into an epic fail. You can do this. You just might have to look at what was missing from your first attempt. I'm a pro at quitting drinking, even for pretty good periods of time. Staying quit eludes me.

Sorry you are on Day 1 Kinzoku but as others pointed out at least you are not coming back after huge relapse
Something prompted you to take that "sip" if you can identify and counter whatever it was you should be OK.
14 months is awesome btw, congratulations on that

Thanks so much. I love the perspectives offered. I will not think of this as a day one. Just a minor setback in what will be a long period of sobriety. We learn so much from failure.
I spent today resting after struggling through work with the first hangover I've had at this job, and in over a year.
Just woke up from a nap and I am refreshed.
Dee's words from past posts rang through my head. What will you do differently this time? What caused you to fail?
Well sobriety wasn't my priority. It needs to be, I can't forget that.
I am arrogant and stubborn
this can help me achieve things but also make me feel above the process.

Oh, that sounds so awful. I'm glad you're back here and not going that road.
I'm arrogant and stubborn, too. It makes me really good at winning and persevering when I'm the good guy, and when I'm the bad guy.
(except I'm not a guy but you follow)
When did you start de-prioritizing your sobriety? It seems to be the most common thing that people who have any amount of time say happens before a relapse.
Thanks for your words, they helped me today. And I'm glad you're back.
In Gratitude

Keeping sober is the most important thing in my life. The most important decision I ever made was my decision to give up drinking. I am convinced that my whole life depends on not taking that first drink. Nothing in the world is as important to me as my own sobriety. Everything I have, my whole life, depends on that one thing.
Can I afford ever to forget this, even for one minute?
