100 Days
100 Days
We made it. Believe me, my wife and I were never heavy drinkers but drank almost every day for 45+ years. Four to six bourbons a day. Over the years we would stop drinking for a couple two to three days and even once or twice for a week but always justified falling back to the bourbon. This time has been different. We started differently by reading everything I could find online about 'quitting alcohol'. We read all the positives we could find on life without alcohol. Then I found this site. I started by searching all our questions, reading and sharing with my wife hundreds of responses. Then I decided to became a member, part of a family all with the same goal. I'm positive SR has made the difference, a great difference. Reaching sobriety has opened a whole new world for us. 100 days feels great but still fighting those little nagging urges from time to time. Long ways to go. Thanks for all the support.
Gatorman,
I am w you all the way. Congrats.
Embracing sobriety is easier than Fighting addiction. Fighting gets exhausting.
Education about the effects of booze and how our minds work regarding alcohol vs Putting it in God's hands helped me.
Although I do believe in God...I believe he wants us to help ourselves when we can.
I do pray all the time and give thanks for my sobriety.
Thanks for the post.

Congratulations!!!
I hit 1,000 days three days ago and let me tell you with NO hesitation - it only gets easier and better, easier and better and BETTER AND BETTER AND BETTER!!!
One comment though; to me, "four to six bourbons a day" doesn't seem to personally square with "we were never heavy drinkers".
Keep at it, this life is beautiful, joyous, abundant and wonderful - booze only gets in the way of all that.
