Crazy thinking

I've been on Antabuse for a week now. I can stay sober for a week or two, and then i'll drink to excess & bad things happen. I'm hoping to take Antabuse for while, until I get a good few months sober and i'm more stable in recovery.
I'm also reading a book about rational recovery.

This whole week on antabuse, i've been super annoyed at everything and everyone. It's like i'm mad that I can't drink anymore..or have the option.

The main thought in my head has been...my boyfriend and I are going for our anniversary dinner at the end of this month and i won't be able to drink with him. He'll be bored that he can't drink, so i should have a glass or two of wine with him. Then my mind goes to thinking I should stop Antabuse now, so it'll be out of my system by then!

Crazy thinking. That was the beast talking to me all week, and i had no idea! lol. I woke up this morning, and it dawned on me suddenly.

I feel a lot less annoyed now. Rest assured, my amazing boyfriend and I won't drink alcohol at our anniversary dinner Phew!

I feel for you because it would be easier in early sobriety if your mate didn't drink.
Seems you reconize that you have a problem.
An excellent start that many drunks never get a chance to see.
If alcoholic?
The thought of drinking is a crazy idea.
Have a nice sober day,
M-Bob

Yes, it would have been easier if my boyfriend didn't drink, but i'm in charge of my sobriety.
I'm going to work on changing my mind set. Instead of thinking "i'm boring if I don't drink" to "I am a better girlfriend, friend, aunt, employee etc if I don't drink".

Drinking blurs everything at dinner. I've seen rational people turn angry over the silliest things after a couple of drinks.

Our up bringing shapes us. Booze does not go w dinner in many families.

Change it up.

Happy Anniversary.

And- IME it isn't good to mess around with Anatabuse. The warnings about that are there for a reason- I was lucky not to have more ill effects - which my psych HAD told me could include death - when I played games.

Like your increasingly positive comments!

I'm glad you talked that out - it is crazy thinking and it's classic AV (addictive voice)
