Interesting perspective
Everyone is allowed and encouraged to have their opinion, having researched and lived this most of my adult life, I tend to lean towards clinical trials overseen by doctors who are experts in the field for their comments, not as an easy way out but to truly understand what I am up against.

Addiction is a many faceted disorder. The "learning" aspect, (part of the psychological side of addiction) is only one component. The article suggests that "learning" explains it all, and even suggests that the entire problem of addiction can 'simply' be addressed by focusing on this maladaptive learning.
The problem with the article is that it does not have even one suggestion about how this perspective can help address the problem. With a title like "The answer to treating drug and alcohol addiction may be far simpler than you think" you'd a thought they would have come up with just one.
