Would you read a blog about being in rehab?

Hi all, when I was looking for information on rehab places, I was trying to find out what the actual experience was like and I found very little online. Much like Miraviglio, I kept a journal while I was there and thought that maybe I'd query a few magazine editors about the topic once I went home. But now I'm thinking that writing a blog might be better. What do y'all think? Is that something anyone would be interested in reading? Of course, I'd write about more than just rehab, but it could be a starting point. Thanks!

I found it best to focus on the work in rehab that I was given, the "classes" and things we had to do there. There was a show about rehab, not sure it's still on tv, though.......

I also think it's a wonderful idea. And I would most definitely read it.

Are you referring to that show with Dr. Drew? I think I watched every episode, though I'm not sure it accurately portrays most rehabs. We weren't really assigned "work" to do in our free time outside of the sessions, though reading from the library was encouraged. I went to a non 12-step place, though, it might be different.

Why not give it a try? There are a lot of good sobriety blogs out there. Once you start writing you could try networking with those through the comments. I forget the name but the woman who calls her AV "Wolfie" has a big community. Hers might be called "tired of thinking about drinking". And there's Unpickled. A few others I've read. I think one that gives insight into rehab would be welcome by those audiences.

I dunno, like the others have said it's best to focus on understanding the tools being given out in rehab, and working on them yourself. It's kinda a personal thing and experiences vary widely.

I'm sure lots of people would read it, and it may encourage someone who is thinking about entering rehab.

If they allow you access to the internet (some rehabs don't and even take away your cell) I think it could be something positive both for others but also for yourself in the future. As you grow in recovery or if you are struggling, you would be able to get back and read your blog to see how far you have gone.
After all, that's what a blog is: a more or less public internet diary.
If they don't allow you internet access you could always journal your experience.

Hey Carlotta, I've already been to rehab...I used the old-fashioned pen to paper. We had limited access to the internet. I would write about what I learned that day, how I was feeling, what was for lunch/dinner (lol -- the chefs were great!), etc. It's already written, just thought I'd put it in a blog form. Thanks.

I think its a good idea. Yes people should work with the tools they are given, but what about the people that have not yet taken the leap into sobriety.

I am a researcher. I look into EVERYTHING before I do it. If I was thinking about rehab I would want to know what its about, what do you do, what do you go through. It may encourage some that hey, its not so bad and seems really helpful!

I like the idea.
