Warm welcome Trickie, stick around and read a bit, you'll see there's lots of experience and understanding around what you are feeling and expressing. We've all been weak when it comes to drinking, you're in the right place here.
Good luck

Yes you do.
Not to be argumentative, but you know you can do it, you just feel like you can't. Thinking and feeling are two different things. Addiction can dominate your feelings, but it can't take over your thinking without your permission.
Welcome to SR.
You can do this.

Welcome to SR, Trickie2u; glad that you found us.
I used to think that alcohol had the upper hand, too - that I was a totally hopeless case with literally thousands of Day 1s; I was very wrong.
Alcohol doesn't have to win; you have the power to reclaim the upper hand and move forward into a better way of living.
Do you have a plan for sobriety and recovery? There is a really great SR thread on the importance of a plan; I will post it for you in a minute.

Here is the link to the Class of March, 2016. You may find that sharing with people who are at the same stage in seeking recovery to be very helpful:

Hey, you're going to be ok, alright? I totally understand where you are coming from. I was drinking 16-18 drinks a day, passing out, drinking, throwing up, passing out drinking, throwing up etc. I NEVER in a MILLION YEARS thought I could get sober and I did. If I can do it anyone can do it!
My suggestion is to go to an AA meeting. Don't worry about how you look or how you sound because everyone in those halls will welcome you and show you how to get sober and stay sober. You don't have to do this alone!
Big hugs.

The 24 Hour Recovery Connection thread is another thread in which to connect with SR members who commit to sobriety on a daily basis; here is the link:

Welcome to the family. I thought I was hopeless too, but I was wrong. I finally got sick and tired of waking up feeling horrible and hating myself. I got to the point where I wanted to be sober more than I wanted to drink. And now I'm sober over six years. If I can do it, so can you.

I thank you All
I have a question. I have been deinking pretty heavy 12 years i want to stop drinking!!!!! Im really concerned about the physical effects. travel for work and am always working.what should I be expecting? And of course I choose now to quit drinking while I'm in Vegas, ain't that some crap!
Glad to meet you, Trickie. Is it possible to talk to your doctor about quitting? Stopping abruptly can be dangerous.
We know you can do it, though. I drank 30 yrs. & rarely think about it now. Never thought that would happen. I hope you'll stay with us and take some of the suggestions. We're glad you're here.

trickie, maybe you can do it the way I do? I've been sober for over 90 days and I only quit for one day. I quit one day at a time, every day i wake up. It's easier than quitting for the rest of my life.
There are alot of other things that will help you. Read some threads about AV. Plan on and make some changes to you pattern so you will not be so tempted.
