Day Two Struggle Turns Into Victory.

Well I can't believe I'm off to bed in two or three hours sober; for a second day.

I really, really struggled today. I was in the city doing some shopping on my own and wow; this overwhelming desire to walk into a bar nearly took my breath away. But instead I grabbed an iced coffee and caught the bus home.

But instead of feeling accomplished I felt utterly miserable about it; in that moment.
Later on I realized that not succumbing to a craving is something I have actually never felt before; because I've always just gone with it. I've never said no to it. It was one of the most unpleasant feelings I've ever had. And it was only 12pm. Que anxiety!

But I've been guzzling diet cream soda and diet cherryade (not great for you but obviously A LOT better), distracted myself by making spicy aubergine (eggplant) pizzas, got some greek yogurt and banana protein powder setting in the fridge and before I know it it's 8:30pm.

So now I DO feel accomplished. Now I can look forward to waking up fresh in the morning remembering going to bed the night before.

I am so deeply grateful for the support and kindness I have received on SR. Thank you.

So happy for you that you were able to say no. Its a damn hard thing to do and much harder I would think if you are used to going into bars. I have been a 'go out and buy grog to bring home and drink every moment Im alone' type of drinker. It would be so hard to resist the temptation of popping into a bar, but you are doing wonderfully! Remember what is important. And have faith that it will become easier now that youve set the precedent.

Thank you so much humbug68. I actually normally drink mostly at home too; and occasionally at bars. It was tough walking past and being able to see in! Thank you, I am relieved to have gotten through it. well done for keeping strong to you also, keep it up!

I'm really glad you got through that mrskw
Everytime I got through a craving the next time was a little easier to say no to.

You're definitely on the right track
