A year ago - I was a bloated mess
Happy New Year!
I received a HNY email with a couple of pictures attached of me - what I looked like at this time last year. HORRIBLE! I was drunk in the pictures and I was a bloated mess. What a shock to see that picture.
Now - at 10 months sober, my face is no longer red and bloated. My eyes are clear, my skin is better. I'd say I look 10 years younger.
So - to those who are struggling and hoping to make a change this year, it is so worth it. The change in me from last year this time is incredible.
Here's to 2016 - make it count.

I actually deleted almost all of the pictures of me from the two months prior to checking kyself in for detox. I was puffy and bloated (to be nice about it), my face was beet red because my blood pressure was so high, my eyes (at least what you could see of them through my swollen and mostly closed eyelids) were beyond bloodshot, I had a disgusting rash on my chin because my liver couldn't filter out the toxins anymore, and I was covered in putrid smelling sweat becaus I didn't eat. My body was constantly burning up and in a state of ketosis because there was damn little besides vodka and water going into it, so the toxin-laden sweat was constantly soaking me. Within a few days of being in the hospital, getting fluids and vitamins intraveinously, not having any alcohol in my system, sleeping, and eventually eating and holding down solid food (and finally taking a shower because the nurses said I smelled lik a garbage fire from my sweat), I started looking human again. Within a month, I went from looking 20 years older than my age to looking 10 years younger than my age.
Congratulations on the 10 months! I'll get back there soon enough, now that I stomped out this foolish relapse.

Thanks for this encouraging post Calicofish!
I'm just embarking on my journey, and I have to confess that my appearance is making me rather depressed. I turned down an invitation to a fun charity auction because it's a dress-up affair and I really look old and bloated.
So, you've given me some hope! :-)
