Ten years, I've had enough!
Hello everyone, my name is Alice. I am not good at posting stuff, so please bear with me. I'm an opiate addict that needs support to stay clean. I've been a user for ten years and my addiction had taken everything I've ever had away. I've been to two treatment centers, but walked out by the 3rd day. Sooo, I'm seeking help through you. Thank you
Welcome and you are in the right place.
Although alcohol has always been my drug of choice and nothing else, I feel for what you might be going through as I have been in and out of detox centers so many times since 1998 I have lost count. While in there I have become friends with many addicted to opiate(s) and it was a real eye opener to me what extremes some of these people went to, bottom line at that point is we are all sick, very sick and we need help. And don't get me wrong as an alcoholic while drinking I too have gone to some pretty crazy extreme's, things I would never even consider while sober and thinking with a clear head which to me is the starting point, let the fog lift so you can get a plan in place, this is one of the many things a safe environment like detox does.
IMHO you have to stay for the duration, clear your head and get a plan in place, there are programs at least here you can become involved in that are from what I know far safer, I am thinking of the methadone program. I met a young girl in Detox three years ago who managed to kick it, when she needs a ride I get a text and we go to an NA meeting together, as I said alcohol has always been all I used however for me I enjoy NA meetings (when it comes face to face) better than any other I have tried. However many of us use every tool we can get our hands on to kick this AV, it depends on how bad you want to kick it, for me I will go to any extreme to ensure I never drink again.
In short use every tool you can to get off them, I have seen some brutal recovery, I have a friend Kevin I met in detox that was probably the hardest case I have seen, he is around 35-40, Opiate user for 15 years I believe and a very heavy one, OMG he was sick at first, that was three years ago, and he is still clean as he had a plan and he follows it.
Wishing you the best.
Andrew
