emme ,
As long as my quit date was at some point in the future my addiction was happy .

The best time to quit is now and get the Dr on your side incase of withdrawals.

Drinking just made me miserable by the end of my time doing it .

It is such a relief to stop and never feel the hangover or worry over what i did .

Take care , m

Hey emme - I can guess the context.
What about pouring the rest away and hitting the sack?

I will hit the sack soon. Funny thing about that in grade school I made a poster about "hitting the sack" and the teacher had no idea what I was talking about
I feel so bad for my dog, she knows something is wrong, and she just looks at me when I kiss & hug her. I am such a bad mom. I love my animals so much and I would do anything for them, I just can't stop drinking.

It can be done Emme, pour the rest out, regroup and make a watertight plan moving forward.

We have all been in that situation, we all had to start at Day 1, and at times it felt like there was no light at the end of the tunnel, but I promise there is, there's a wealth of Sobriety here on SR that says taking that leap of faith can change your life!!

You can do this!!

I believe anybody can stop drinking emme - you just need the right plan and the right support.

Don't lose hope

Hi Emme,

I know when you're in the midst of drinking that it is really hard to stop... but not impossible.
When you wake up tomorrow, you would wish that you listened.
If you are already sleeping, good.
Now the day after might feel like the pits but try and remember that feeling and tell yourself you never will feel like this again.
I have had to learn by advice on here to not romanticise that first glass of wine. Once you take that first glass, it feels so good. You feel fancy and even real cool... but we all know what happens after glass number 1.... we don't know how to stop because we are constantly chasing a better feeling then the one we have at that time.
I promise myself every time after the first glass that I'm done.... then I sit down, put the TV on... and low and behold, there's another glass in front of me.
The cycle is viscous but you have the power to change your tomorrow.
Stay strong and I will keep you in my prayers.

Hi Emme

I'm glad you're here and I hope you're getting some rest and relaxing.

I can't say it any better than the others that have posted before me. As already said, one glass isn't enough and it's a hard thing to confront and accept.

You can stop drinking and it will suck at times, but there are so many benefits and it can really transform your life.

I just can't stop drinking.

yes you CAN, you just have not made the commitment to do so yet. its actually easier to stay sober than it is to keep drinking.....drinking takes a lot of work, energy, time, planning and money. and as an added bonus it makes you feel like total crap.

two of the biggest benefits to sobriety are free time and sanity. those are some very precious gifts.

If you would do anything for them, add "quit drinking" to the list. Be the dog mom they deserve. Get the support you need to get and stay sober. It's doable. Hard, but not impossible unless you give up.

I hope your not still drinking emme, I made the terrible mistake of picking up this week after a decent amount of sober time and I can tell you without question it was the wrong decision. The sober time was beautiful and pain free while everything since I decided to drink has been miserable. You can come out of this in a good way once you stop drinking, you will hurt for a while but it will pass.
