Feeling All Alone
Feeling All Alone
This week I had a simple operation, I never really told many people, mainly because there is not that many people to tell.
I have found myself recovering well from the operation but all alone - and this I have come to realise because of my aggressive behaviour through drinking I have pushed everyone away - I was foolish to think any one would care.
I am thankful for my husband and my children.

Glad you're on the mend, friend!
Many of us found ourselves mostly alone at the end of our drinking careers. You're fortunate to have close loved ones nearby, often this is not the case along with friends we run off.
Time heals many wounds and allows new doors to open on fresh relationships I have found. When we start to take interest in others and veer away from the selfish behavior typically associated with alcohol abuse, a brand new world opens up to us!!
Glad you're here - change happens by not picking up that first drink!!

Hello, Applejack! Glad you are recovering from your operation.
I was very much alone at the end of my drinking; depressed, psychotic, hallucinating and thinking constantly of suicide.
I agree with Fly N Buy-time (and sobriety) can heal all sorts of injury. SR has been a great help to me. Welcome!

Best wishes on your full recovery from operation. There---3 return posts so you are not really alone. We've all alienated many of our closest friends/family through our addicted behaviors. SR is, if nothing else, a place where we can build bonds with our recovery....You just did
I wish you a speedy recovery Applejack! Oh yes! We've lost friends indeed. The last true friend that managed to deal with my alcoholism just left me last month after 10 years. You are definitely not alone. We are here!
I'm glad you're healing up apple jack. Know that you're not alone. I had an injury last week and felt depressed but people reached out who I didn't expect. Hold onto those people around you. We're here too!

Hey, glad to hear your operation has went as planned. I know the feeling of being lonely and its not a good feeling at all. I think its good that you can acknowledge that you may not have treated others very well in the past because it gives you a starting point for fixing that. None of us are perfect, I have done the same thing with friends and family when I was drinking but I found when I acknowledged my behavior that I was able to slowly turn most of my relationships back around.
Don't be too hard on yourself because your past a actions probably stemmed from the alcohol, not the real you. Take care.

Applejack, sending healing vibes or prayers your way. Take what you like and leave the rest.
I always like flannel jammies and good movies under a blankie when I'm recovering. I'm one who really doesn't want anyone around when I'm recuperating. It just wears me out.

It's never too late to start chapter 2 applejack and start rebuilding your life the way you want it. Reputations can be rescued too, and often times fences can be mended
I hope you recover from your operation quickly.
We're all with you
