8 Days
Hi everyone.
Well I've not drunk alcohol for 8 days now. I've got this far before so the real test is yet to come. I feel ok, a little flat sometimes, but have got over the irritability. The voice in my head that I have named Derek has been suprisingly quiet only piping up a few times so far.
Ok the good things I have noticed this week:
No hangovers.
Less snappy with children.
Haven't peed on bathroom floor.
Concentration getting better.
Feel better about myself, most of the time.
Happier to engage with people.
Feel less edgy, nervous, after first few days
This site and the people on it.
So onwards I go. My wife is away this week and there is alcohol in the house, so I have locked it in a cupboard with a big sign I made on the door saying 'Toxic Chemicals. Keep out' which will work. I will not drink today. I will not drink this week.

Congrats Steve! That voice is still there for me too. I am at one month. I like to think it as an "unreliable narrator" to skew things so I do not see the real truth.
I have dedicated myself to "one day at a time" and heck, sometimes one hour at a time, and it makes sense to never have that first drink.
