Annual physical Today

I got my annual physical today, it is funny how I say "annual" which it has been over 10 years since my last one.

I think I was scared of what they would find and I still will not know the results of my blood tests until early next week. I would urge anyone who is quitting or has quit to go and get it done. It really does give you good piece of mind. They took 4 vials of blood so they can check my liver, kidney, thyroid and other functions. They gave an HIV test and and EKG. So far the Dr. has been positive, my BP was still a little bit high so I am going to be taking LISINOPRIL for that.

I just want to say I recommend going and don't be scared like I had been for the past decade. It is worth it on our path of recovery to have the knowledge that you can only get from this type of exam.

I'm glad you went and that it's been ok. I'm sure your results will be ok too SVA

I think it's really important to have checkups/bloodtests. Good data helps with knowing what to work on and what you are doing well

Well done for going SVA

May I ask how long it has been before you quit drinking and had your physical?

Thanks for this thread -- I need to do this too. 10 years overdue for the physical and five for the lady parts. You inspired me.

After my last binge (which was not my worst, just my last), I did the same thing. Went and got checked out, had everything tested. Miracle everything came back normal. But it did. Just and FYI on the lisiniprol, it made me cough a little bit for the first few weeks. Just an annoying cough, not an all out rib breaker. Congratuations man, good job.

Yes, I've been taking it for years. high BP runs in my family. But it will annoy the sh*t out of you for awhile. I see it as a worthwhile trade off. high BP as I'm sure you are aware of, can be dangerous. Strokes and aneurysm etc... You might also feel a little lightheaded on occasion when you do things like bend over to tie your shoes or after you've been sitting or lying down for awhile. It will all stabilize.

How long did it take to stabilize for you?

Glad to hear that your check up went well and that you're taking care of yourself again. Hope you're tests come back just fine.

Got the results early, liver and kidney are in good working order. Only problem was high cholesterol so I guess that's not all that bad.
