Other recovery forums
I wanted to post this last night and forgot. I haverified been staying pretty much current on new posts here and have read through pretty much all previous posts so I decided to peruse the Ole Internet for some other forum reading material. I found 2 different forums about recovery and started reading. After an hour or so one glaring thing stood out to me. Both forums were rampant with 2 things. Firstly, apparently everyone on these forums were doctors. It was rampant medical advice from people with no business giving it. While I do like hearing people's stories about what they did or what worked, it was obvious that wasn't the case. Kudos to sober recovery for keeping this in check. Second, all of these people, like here, posting that they just quit cold turkey after drinking staggering amounts of booze a day for long periods of time. The difference? I didn't see one response suggesting they seek medical attention to detox safely. Not a single one! So kudos to the SR community and staff for creating a safe and knowledgeable environment to help people in need recover. It was a little frightening seeing some of the information and lack of information flying around some "recovery forums"
