1st Issue of SR Newsletter being sent this week

Since there are some who do not do as much exploring in the other forums of SR as others, I thought I would post this information for you here.

They're going to send it in batches to make sure it gets sent properly, so people may receive it at different times. All of the active members of the forum will receive the newsletter at the email address they used to register with SR, but if you don't want to continue to receive the newsletter all you have to do is click "Unsubscribe" and you'll be permanently taken off the list.

We hope you like the new articles and info we've included. Feedback is welcome!

Thanks!

Thank you for posting this here, Seren. I would certainly never have seen the original thread, as I don't visit that part of the forum and in fact had no idea it existed...

Here is the link for the "New Content" section of the forum, where discussion of the newsletter being sent out can be found as well as instructions on how to opt out if you don't want to receive it.

I have already posted on emily's thread my objection to sending these unsolicited newsletters (which I believe should be strictly on an opt-IN basis). Anyone who is in an abusive relationship where the abuser has access to your technology (computer, cell phone, etc.) should opt OUT of this newsletter so you can maintain your privacy here. Alternatively, if you do want to receive the newsletter (and I believe all of the content is already posted on this website), please consider having it sent to an email address your abuser does not know about and that you access only from public (or safe) devices.

Emily added this information today. She requests that comments about the newsletter be directed to http://www.soberrecovery.com/forums/...ml#post5391084

We can assure you that your SR Usernames will NOT be included in the newsletter, so no privacy worries there.

Again, our hope is that you enjoy the newsletter content, but if it's not interesting to you, you are welcome to unsubscribe and you wont receive it anymore.
She told me that I could add that if people don't want outreach information from the corporation, they can make a change in their Control Panel under Edit Options, Messaging & Notification, to elect NOT to receive email notices from administrators. This may not prevent receipt of the Newsletter -- if you receive that and don't want it, you should click on "Unsubscribe."

Those involved in a domestic violence situation should opt out of all email contact including emails from members unless they use a safe email address. A member can email at any time. Also spammers have been know to send emails before we catch them. You may also receive email on subscribed threads.

You can change your email address at any time using your control panel options.

I'm sorry but I don't know how this protects abuse victims. You need to be here to read this. I have been absent a few times. Many abuse victims are. Many change their name. I am safe, many are not.

Guess just really bumping this.
