To all the SR power users what the heck is a permalink and what are they used for?

I think its used as a quick find to the thread you subscribe to

A permalink is a URL ( a web address ) that takes you specifically to an individual post within a thread. So for example, the permalink for your original post is

http://www.soberrecovery.com/forums/...ml#post5321112

So if you wanted to refer someone back to a specific post, or share it with someone outside SR you could use it for that.
