sweating it out -day 1

I've got 2 days off work for easter, gonna go cold turkey from painkillers and hopefully the worst of the withdrawals will be gone by Tuesday.

So far its been 15 hours, hope I make it.

Sorry you are doing poorly -- but you've made the first step to sobriety and you should be proud of yourself. Please come back often. These people have been helpful to me during detox and new sobriety. There is usually someone here 24 hours a day.

Best of luck and please keep posting!

Stick to us, IWTL, this place helped me a lot to go through early days of sobriety.

Post and read, and never give up.

Best wishes to you.

I had to do cold turkey from dilaudid after being prescribed it for my lupus. It's tough but it can be done. I took Advil and lots of warm baths, drank plenty of lemon water to help flush things out, tried to feed my body as nutritiously as possible, and slept whenever possible. It took quite a few days but is so worth it coming out the other side. You can do this!

Blew it! had to take some pills withdrawals was getting heavy and some work needed doing, have not took enough for a high though, trouble is now I got more in the house, at least its settled my stomach. Thing is im a secret addict but get grouchy, pasty, dark eyed and sweating so my withdrawals make people think im on something where as me high is normal.

Back to work tomorrow so im gonna try and take none in the morning then work out the evening and withdrawals when they come.

Sorry I wasted evryonea time just felt less alone on here, I lost a lot of my friends when I gave up drink and recently lost my mum, actually met some family I never knew about at the funeral. But doesnt look like they want to stay in touch, but im giving them time. My mum had them adopted 50 years ago, so maybe I make them feel bitter, not sure.

Anyways ive done a day or so, not gonna quit quitting.

You haven't wasted everyone's time

The 2 things about withdrawal are - it sucks and it's inevitable.
And every time you back out and take more pills you're really just delaying the inevitable.

You may even be making your withdrawal worse.

I really recommend you think about drawing a line in the sand and not crossing it again IWTL.

It won't be fun, but it'll be better than doing it 6 months or a year, or 2 years, 5 years from now?

Thanks purple knight, dee. I know its inevitable, just seems so hard to go without completely.

But your right, I now have to go through the early stages of withdrawals again, it shows me how bad I got it when I need a dozen pills just to function.

This is getting me nowhere, cant believe how hard it is, I need something drastic like a week away in the middle of a forest or something, come back clean.

Think they'd have to tie me to a tree like the guy in tropic thunder.

I kicked harder drugs than this a lot easier, I think in them days though I was using loads of different substances so the withdrawls weren't so bad, and usually after an OD I sleep for a couple of days, plus everyone knows about it.

At least im cutting down a lot, should make the crash smoother when it comes.
