Last night I went to a meeting where we discussed how we individually came to identify ourselves as alcoholic. An assessment that no one else in the program will make for us. We must do so ourselves. Thereby owning it if we do come to find it's true.

As we went around the room, one by one, I was reminded of so many indicators I had. Glaring indications which now seem bizarrely absent from everyday memory. Reminding me that this things is cunning, baffling, and powerful. I need to be reminded continuously. That amnesia doesn't go away with repeated reminders. It is always present. And thus, I need always be present in the meetings to be reminded.

If I don't remember, I'm condemned to repeat.
