Hi Everyone
This has been a big step for me as I usually don't go on forums etc. I went onto the web last night looking for info on itchy skin and found 'YOU ALL'.
I am about to come to the end of my 4th day without any alcohol. At the age of 53 I have eventually realised that I had better take my life and health a bit more seriously, so here I am saying hello to you all.
I am currently sitting in my work room scratching !!

I am pretty tired tonight and would usually have a drink in front of me by now, but I don't. I am not sure how I feel about stopping but just know that I have to do it. Hubby has his usual beer in the fridge sitting next to my carton of tomato juice.
Finding sleep a bit of a struggle and seem to spend my time just drifting in and out.

I didn't get up for my work on Tuesday morning and phoned in sick. I wasn't really ill but instead was still drunk from the bottle of white wine and 3 x G&Ts the night before. I think that this was the switch that flicked and finally made me TRY !!!
I am hoping it will work this time.

Itchy skin. Alcohol recovery. Close enough, huh? 
However you found us, I am glad you found us. I stumbled upon this site 18 months ago at age 50, having been drinking 8-10 drinks per night for the last 20 years. The day that I found SR is the day I got sober. Haven't had a drink since. I owe much of that success to the kind, supportive, understanding people here at SR. I wish the same for you.
I, like you, still have itchy skin. Makes me crazy sometimes. But it is better than being a drunk. My life is so much better, I can't begin to tell you.
