Why is Recovery So Hard?
Some Thoughts on Addiction and Recovery
Floyd P. Garrett, M.D.
I think it shows not only how recovery is hard,
but also gives hope, because it makes the whole crazy addiction thing make sense.
Update on me:
My ex-husband has 20 months clean now, and is slowly starting to make sense.
I only talk to him very sporadically, but the other day he called to thank me for the influence I had on getting him to decide to get sober. (I don't advocate the codependent way I tried to 'save' him, I'm just glad he realizes I was acting out of love, and doing my best at the time!)
The mess that was our marriage, has led to good things for both of us, ultimately.
