It's the weekend and there's a big party...
In my city tonight. There will be lots of street parties and drinking. But i don't even feel remotely tempted to have a glass of wine. In fact, i went to see a few friends last night in a bar and i felt a little bit sick looking at the red in their glasses. I'm hoping this feeling of disgust will last as it's obviously making it a lot easier for me not to drink. I never get tempted by beer or spirits until i've had a few wines so the key for me is definitely avoiding the grapes!
I need to be up nice and early for another 15km hike!
I also have a house warming party tomorrow night which has the theme "wine and cheese." I've picked up a bottle of soda and some nice cheese as my gift and am planning on leaving early to avoid any temptations to go out to a club after it.
For now i am happy that it is friday, i only have 3 hours in work, i have mexican lunch plans with my friend and i've made it to day 11
Happy Friday everyone! x

Hey messy happy Friday to you as well and awesome job on day 11!
Being around friends who are drinking has never been a problem for me. As long as you are mindful of what does trigger urges for you, you can remove it or remove yourself from it.
Stay humble and focused and never let your guard down.
Keep it up!

As i've mentioned before though, where i live in the south of spain has a very casual drinking attitude and if i wanted to avoid people who drank then i would have to sit in my flat on my own all day, every day. For example, i just did a 5 hour hike and we always go for lunch on the way back and everyone had beer and wine with their food. But i certianly wouldn't turn down the hike for that reason xx

It's obviously going to get to me one day but at the moment i'm lucky that it's really not bothering me. I'm thinking that i just need to plan for when that happens and how i'm going to deal with it when it does! x
If you are serious about staying sober, make a plan because it will get you sooner or later.

I know it will get to me eventually... that's what i said. But as i have mentioned many times i can no wrap myself in bubble wrap and hide out in my bedroom. There is not one activity in my small spanish city that does not include alcohol... there is even beer in the fridge at work. so it's something i have to adapt to rather than avoid...
It sounds a lot like Australia
I thought that nearly everyone drank like I did but that's just not the case...no need to be a hermit either...
with a little work and imagination you can find sober people and enjoy doing sober things ML...I enjoyed coffee dates, art galleries, museums, picnics...when you start thinking about it there's a lot of activities that don't involve or need alcohol.
