Failure right out the gate...
My goal was to be sober by 1/1. But right out the gate, after a nice yet boring night alone, I spent the weekend getting ****faced. It only solidifies my hatred for the holiday, one of grand expectations that can't possibly be met.
But whatever. It's the 5th, and a date is just a date. I'm going to be a ****ing superhero at the gym tomorrow. And the day after that, and after that.
I'm sure this site is just as gunked up with resolutionists as my gym this time of year, but I've been here a while. January 1st was just another day. I'm here for the long haul. I just want to be the best person I can be.

There is a live chat room here. AA has a 24/7 hotline as well, here are the Philly area ones. 2-Meetings
Even if you never plan to set foot in a meeting they can help

I was at the gym for two and a half hours today. It was ****ing amazing. I just had a hiccup. You don't learn how to drive stick without grinding a few gears.
New Years must be the stupidest time of year to make resolutions, especially in Philadelphia where the party culminates on Day 1 with a bunch of drunk clowns (literally, Google "Mummers") parading down Broad Street.
I might grind my gears again, but I haven't gotten stuck since I started this experiment back in November. I'm here, I'm never going to say "I'm back" no matter what happens. Even if I hit a valley, I'm still climbing to the summit.
Sorry for all the cheesy metaphors, writing is therapeutic for me. Blame sobriety :P

LOL I walked down Juniper to find my friends on Pine. Apparently that sidestreet is where everyone pi$$es and pukes...at like 10am. That'll certainly scare anyone sober :P
