Insomnia and excessive energy after quitting drinking

So it's been a few days, since starting back with sobriety, and I am not sleeping well, and it's in increments of a couple of hours here and there. Also my energy level has increased X100 it seems like. Anybody else experience this?

I don't recall specifically how it was in the beginning. But we all don't react the same. I went through a period of being energized to e period of feeling tired and lazy. Don't be surprised if there is a shift.

Absolutely, it sounds common. My sleeps up and down. Click in my name and read my post about sleep, you might find something useful

With what we did to ourselves drinking, some for so long, I’d expect far worse with most of us. It’s said nobody died from lack of sleep so I guess gratefulness might be in order that we are still alive. So far.

BE WELL

It's common. It will pass. One night I didn't sleep at all, and then, like you, in two or three hour stretches, for a couple of weeks.

Same for me when I first started. I couldn't sleep for more than 4 hours at night. It took my body a while to readjust after 20+ years of heavy drinking. I spent a ton of time on SR to pass the idle hours at night.

You'll readjust with time. I figured a lack of sleep with more energy was better than passing out nightly and waking up in a fog any time!

I'm finally back to a normal sleeping pattern.

Stay strong.

Yep, quite common. Each detox for me was accompanied by at least 3 days insomnia. Eyelids were so heavy and wanting to close but my mind wouldn't shut off. It is temporary. After being suppressed by alcohol for so long, your nervous system is adjusting. Time is really what it comes down to. Usually by day 4 of sobriety, I would be able to sleep at least a few Hours consecutively
