Tempe checking in... I'm back.
Decided to get a head start on the New Year and spend the last two days of 2014 sober. So far, so good. In past years, January 1st was my day one. This year, January 1 will be day 3. Dear God in heaven, please give me the strength to straighten out my life and live a sober life for the rest of my life.
Recently had a a rather intimidating birthday and the number really bothered me... a lot. 55. If I keep drinking, it's unlikely I'll see 60 and really, the drinking life is no life at all. I feel dead and numb inside. I want a few living years before I check out and the only way I'll ever have that is to permanently abstain from drinking.
I have all the tools I need to do this thing, and by God, I am going to do it.
Wishing you all a sober New Year's Eve and a Happy 2015 tomorrow!

If Tempe means the Arizona one, that's where I got sober. Any place to do that is great but Tempe has some really good meetings still I hear. Congratulations on the to start your New Year healthier and stay that way!.

Thank you all for your kind responses. My screen name is Tempe after the recovering alcoholic protagonist of the Kathy Reichs mystery novels, Temperence Brennan, M.D. lol
Yep, day 2 is coming to a close and I'm looking forward to welcoming 2015 in sobriety. So glad this place exists. I'm gonna need it in the coming days and nights.

Day 3 is now coming to a close. I'm just so fricking tired... don't remember being this tired before. Oh well, I'm no spring chicken, lol. It was an uneventful New Year's Day with no major cravings. Just tired. Just made a pot of Sleepytime herb tea and will drink that, watch TV and head to bed and a good book. Insomnia will NOT be a problem on this night! Hope you all had a nice holiday.
Welcome back, Tempe! I think as we get older that the whole life of active using just gets harder and harder in every way. To me it's such a relief now to know that I don't have to be a drunk anymore or ever again.
