Lets try this again.

I've failed again, and I think I know why.

I've been trying to do this myself, leaving God out of the equation. That's not a mistake I can make again.

For those of you who are able to make AVRT or other non faith based methods work, that is good. I feel like I've tried them all, and there is only one solution left.

For me, thats Jesus.

Heres to another day 1. With the grace of God, the last day 1.

I'll change my signature later. Not in the state of mind to do it right now.

Welcome back, Pat.

I know that I needed to reconnect spiritually to find a purpose for my life.

Don't see it as you have failed again.
See it as you have 'learnt again' - that drinking is not for you.

I wish you the best xx

Welcome back, Pat. A spiritual connection was essential in my recovery, also.

Day 2 here. We'll get there! I have found that even though AA is faith based, I've also really enjoyed it and had periods of months sober with AA. AVRT was great for the first couple of weeks, but lacked what I need.

I'm not religious, but I find being in a physical location is helpful to remind me how serious my problem is.

Welcome back Pat - so what does 'involving Jesus' mean in practical terms for you?

That's been the only thing that has sorted me out.

I tried many many years to stop, control it, just don't drink etc etc

Why not go the whole hog and get into AA and the steps?

It's all based on the principles of JC's teachings.

I know that JC isn't mentioned in the book or the steps but believe me, dig into AA history and it all sprung from there.

The Oxford Group meetings were all about it and AA has its roots in that group.

Bill Wilson sort out Emmet Fox as a spiritual mentor.... His influence is all over the other book Bill wrote.... The 12&12.

Best of luck with your decisions and recovery
