First post...mixed start to sobriety
Long time stalker first time poster. I'm 52 and have been drinking since 21. Classic story of progressive amounts over the years, pretty darn functional along the way, but got to a point where it wasn't remotely fun to drink. Stopped on Labor Day so I have a little over 100 days. No issues during the first days outside of brain fog. Anyhoo, went to doctor for annual checkup and two liver enzymes were slightly elevated. He ordered additional bloodwork for hepatitis, immunodeficiency issues, all were clean. Also had ultrasound on abdominal region...found a couple lesions on liver and at least one polyp on gallbladder. Going for MRI late next week to ensure none of these are issues (preliminary write up suggested probably nothing) but in the meantime I'm kind of panicked. Too long for first post, my apologies, but wanted to put this out to you wonderful people to get your thoughts and support. I understand and respect the no diagnosis rule but interested if anyone had experience with either gallbladder polyp or liver cysts/lesions (hemangiomas, they think). Blessyouall!
No experience with either of those things but my best wishes go with you Blessyouall
The great majority of us seem to get off pretty lightly healthwise really - you have the odds on your favour

Welcome Blessyouall - good luck with the health issues. The good news is that you are addressing the issues. So much better than the alternative.
Please keep us posted.
Congratulations on the 100 days - awesome!

Welcome to SR and congrats on 100 days! I have no experience with those issues but hold off on all the worry until the tests are all done. And gallbladders can be removed. Many people have them taken out. My husband (non drinker) has his removed years ago.
Glad you're here, Welcome!!!
Good job on getting checked out, it's important as we recover to get BODY, mind and spirit realigned.
Your age/history closes parallels mine. I have to accept the medical facts that while I have stopped, it doesn't punch my ticket to perfect health. I am resolved to doing what I can to regenerate and hope for the best.
Whatever happens to me health wise, I simply can no longer control if I am doing what I can daily. From there, I seek medical advice but realize I cannot make up for 30+ years of drinking overnight or perhaps ever.
Not trying to be a downer here ( I am relocated from Chicago btw) but I post this as a warning for other newcomers. If you are debating stopping and staying stopped perhaps reading this link will wake you up

Glad you're here friend, and stay on the path.
The rest will take care of itself
