Absolutely normal for early recovery. Don't worry, you are right on schedule.

To get a better idea what is happening and what to expect over time, pick up a copy of Under the Influence by Robert Milam; it's about $8 new in paperback.

Good luck!

Im so sorry! The hospital..yuck! I hate hospitals. Im all to familiar with how they treat alcoholism in the hospital....I dont know what they told you at the hospital. We cant give medical advice here. But, from my experience.....do not even think about drinking while taking ativan. Honestly, the combination can make you stop breathing. Dont take it lightly. Please baby yourself the next few days. I promise the anxiety and upset will slowly disappear. Do not drink.

Not sleeping much is normal. Your post does not specify how long they kept you.

I was prescribed Ativan for detox. I could take one if I felt really shaky and freaky during the day. I was lucky and only took them before bed time for 2 days.

My advice to you is don't drink not mater what, call a pharmacist. They know drugs better than doctors and how to use them properly.

Usually at the 72 mark, most physical symptoms should be gone. If in doubt,
Go back to the ER and don't be shy to ask questions! If they can treat Ebola, they should be able to take care of this.

Good luck! And please run with your luck and DOT not drink! Even when you feel better. Your AV will try to convince you a few beers is ok.

What is your plan after leaving the ER? Is there a program of sorts that you could get in to or go to a place that can support your sobriety goals? I'm so glad that you found medical help...so important!

I'm so glad you went to the hospital. As you begin to feel better, you do need a plan so that this is the last time you have to go through this. And I hope you begin to feel better today.

I'm glad you went to the hospital.

Do you have a plan for how you will continue your sobriety?

Great job going to the ER, ms.

I hope you follow up with your GP and formulate a plan for the days ahead and for your sober future.

Ativan is an anti anxiety... lowers heart rate, and takes the edge off everything. That being said dont abuse it. I did and it took me a very long painful time to get off of it.

Thank you D. I am doing well. Just got home from a meeting. The Avtian has been good about keeps the shakes at bay, but my body and head are exhausted. I have given up on thinking that I can stay sober "Forever" and this has to be a day to day battle.

Thank you all for your support.

Ms-I am glad you are getting the help you need and went to the hospital. Like thepatman mentioned, pharmacists are great to talk to if you have questions about medications. I am glad to hear you're doing well tonight ms. You're in my thoughts.
