Hi again !!!!
Been a few months of ups and downs ..........mostly downs but am not dwelling on the past
Today is 10 days and I was determined to come back here with at least something positive so there you are
10 days is the longest I have gone aside from a 10 day inpatient and I know it is bugger all but I am proud of myself and for once so is my husband and family
been to AA twice bought a book on mindfulness to hopefully help with the anxiety ongoing issues and although I am white knuckling the thought of hospitals / the whole charade and lying is keeping me off the booze
Seeing my addiction specialist Wednesday as well
Had a good productive week personally and work wise and this is it - am alive and hopeful
Hope you all doing ok
thanks for reading
much love
Mike

You should be proud of yourself!!! We are all taking it day to day, and 10 days strung together shows the intent to be sober. You seem to have a plan, that is also a necessity! Welcome back to the SR community, glad to meet you!

Hi.
10 days is a big accomplishment and you should be proud of that and each additional day.
At your stage I was starting to realize my drinking reasons and history needed close examination so I chose the experts that were not drinking around me at all the meetings I attended. My first free expert was the person I chose as my sponsor and was cost free except for the coffee I paid for at about 15-20 cents a cup. A sponsor is someone we pick who can be a lot of things but in the beginning was my sober guide who didn’t tell me all the things I wanted to hear but eventually I found was correct.
Mine suggested strongly I go to 90 meetings in 90 days and start working the 12 steps even if I didn’t want to because of my fears of the unknown.
This getting sober AND staying sober is work and requires change on our part or else we stay miserable and or drink again. As many find out drinking again is never any better but usually far worse and there is no guarantee we can get sober again. In fact most relapses’ never are able to sober up permanently. Talk about being miserable!
A few words that helped me so much was “KEEP COMING.”
