First Post - 22 Days Sober
Hi Everyone. I just joined this site. I am 22 days sober today after being a six-pack (or more) a night binge drinker for the past 3-4 years (though I've been drinking a lot longer than that, just not so much. It got out of control the past few years). I've had two 2-month periods of sobriety in the last 4 years, and I'm hoping this time it's forever, but taking it a day at a time. On Tuesday I start group treatment at an outpatient treatment center. I'll have two 3-hour group sessions for the next 12 weeks. This is the first time I've tried professional treatment and also used a benzo to withdraw. So far, so good with not drinking alcohol. (But I'm binge-drinking on herbal tea like you wouldn't believe, and smoking cigs more than before. Funny, I thought that would be reduced by not drinking. I'll work on that next). Hope you all are having a good night. I know how hard it is in the beginning, and I want to wish you strength and courage!

Welcome ShineLove. Forever, one day at a time sounds like a great strategy. Your outpatient program sounds like it will be a wonderful opportunity for real-lfe community and this forum has fantastic support and experience for the journey, as well. You're in a great place in many ways.
