First Meeting
Ms Marie,
Thanks for sharing where you're at on your journey to being FREE. It may seem like a struggle right now, but the MIRACLE does happen. Read the Big Book, go to meetings, WORK THE STEPS, search the Internet for AA Speaker Messages and download them.

Hi Everyone,
The meeting went well and I will go again tomorrow.
I hope to make it to Day 3. I have never made it past DAY 3 (only during pregnancy).
After the meeting I went up to the leaders and asked for more information. 2 people gave me their numbers.
I'm not sure why I feel better when on SR I do realize its only my first meeting so I will try again tomorrow.
Thanks for the support. I will be living on SR tonight.

Sounds like a good first meeting.
You can make it to Day 3; stay close to SR (as you plan to); call one of those numbers if you feel the need.
You are taking good steps, Marie!!!! You can do this.

Keep goin Ms. Marie. Once you start getting to know people and they start getting to know you, you will find a family you never thought existed
SR is awesome and I love it. But nothing can replace the face to face contact and support network that I have received from AA.... but it took time to build.
Let us know how meeting number two goes!!!!!!!

The first meeting was so hard for me. No idea what to expect. I cried for some of it. Just sat there with tears running down my face. I now look forward to going, and I am barely 6 weeks into it. I am in no hurry to do the steps, I am just taking my time with everything. Good luck, and you can get through this !
Ms Marie, walking into your first AA meeting is like walking the green mile. You don't know what to expect, being that most we hear as drunks still qualifying, isn't all that appealing. You are not in a frame of mind were you can see the underlying joy some have there, and the alcohol is still king in your mind. You (and I use the "you" as a general reference to all of us) have probably thought yourself into a frenzy of thoughts before you have a chance to begin to learn anything offered.
I went to a meeting last night where the lead was this 24 year old red head. When she started I'm thinking "here we go" as she was just rambling nonsense. Or so I first thought. I have also had a super stressful week, and have been baking in anger as a result. well a bit into her lead I realize that my anger is gone, this energetic rambling red head had some how touched the release on my anger. Her message was one where you could not help but get caught up in her happiness. I left there after thanking her happy and relieved of my anger and resentment for the evening.
This morning I feel good, and the energy she had is still with me. I can smile at work this morning.
Not all meetings are like that, there are those where the lead looks, talks, and pours out depression. But to say that is not fair either as no one but them really knows what is going on in their lives today. They did get up there and share their story, so they are working it.
Never judge AA by going to one meeting. just like your drinking, you spent time finding that bar, or situation you liked to be in to drink, spend the time you need in finding the meetings, and people you need to stay sober.
