I'm here for advice, recovery, discussion, and most of all - help to stay sober.
I'm new to recovery and have never joined a forum of any kind so I'm very nervous. I am 2 days sober so I'm still detoxing I guess, from what I have read because I am jittery, burning up then freezing, some headache and upset stomach, and have been drinking tons of water.
I hope you continue to welcome me as I know I have a long way to go and a lot to learn. I just pray I don't break any more promises and I can do what it takes to live a sober life.
The posts I read today were encouraging, made me cry, and gave me hope! That's why I joined - that and because I'm sick of hangovers, broken promises, and being ashamed.
I am terrified, but I know this is a step in the right direction.
Please pray for me.

Hi there ThisOneLife and Welcome.
I am very glad you joined. This is a really great place for the reasons you stated above, and so many more.
I lurked around here for a long time as a non member, just reading. I was scared to join too (for what seem like dumb reasons now) and that first post was a BIG leap….forward.
Look forwards to hearing more from you.
Take good care of yourself in these next days and come often if you need to, theres so much support here.

A very warm welcome from across the pond, ThisOneLife You've made a great decision in joining this site - and an even greater one in giving up the booze!
Reading and posting here has been fundamental to my achieving 21 months sobriety and it has changed my life in ways I could never have imagined.
There's no need to be terrified because you're no longer alone. You now have hundreds of people who understand and who care and who will be rooting for you every step of the way

Hi and welcome.
There is much good stuff on this site if you are like I was and didn’t know what I didn’t know. Much about getting and staying sober involves work and change within ourselves. It takes time and effort but certainly the end results are well worth it. I needed the fellowship of AA which has helped millions get and stay sober one day at a time.
BE WELL
