3 weeks

and still going strong.

I actually cleaned out the beer fridge and had some minor cravings but overcame them.

I went out with my friends and played football. Took the dogs and they had a blast just running around pretending they were in the game and then sitting in the shade being spectators when they got tired.

My sober buddy and I stayed strong while other friends had some beers while playing, but we held true. Good times and at no point did anyone ask if I wanted a drink.

We bbq'd and just had a good time. Anyways staying strong, and it is pretty cool how good I feel, how clear my head is, and how happy I am.

Thanks for everyone's support and time. Anyone who is just starting out, yes the first part can be rough, but it is so worth it! Just stick to your guns and stay strong.

If I can do it, anyone can do it. My first week was rough (if you read my earlier posts) but gradually day by day I got better. After that first week it was like a switch was flipped. It may take more or less time for others, but its a great feeling.

I'm not going to say I look forward getting up and going to work at 7:15 in the morning, but I can tell you it is much much easier. Gone are the days being hungover and miserable all day. I'm not sure why I kept putting myself through that. I guess I thought that was my "normal".

I've read your posts since joining on October 1...that's one reason I'm so proud for you. It's great that you had such a good time with your friends and didn't have to drink...

Thanks! Today is the first down day I've had in a few weeks. But that's ok, I think normal people have down days. Maybe I got too much sleep last night, but it might be because I didnt drink enough water yesterday too. I bet that is it.

Oh dont worry I already pushed through and made it a better day! This takes work and work I will put into it.

My other sober friend and I were talking on Sunday about all the good things have come out of this. And we couldnt think of a bad thing that has come out of it. He is a very mind over matter person but he understands and gets what I am going through.

Last night, I went out with some friends to Trivia night at the bar. And I didnt drink. I had my other sober friend there so that helped. Just had a few ice teas and we actually WON trivia night! I got a lot of answers that no one else knew (mainly baseball related) but heck it was fun. And I think staying sober helped me greatly with getting questions right. Anyways the bar tender kept asking every few minutes if I was ready for a drink. So after 5 or 6 times I said I was the DD. Then didnt ask again so that was cool. But yeah good time! I cant believe we won!
