I haven't had this issue related to anxiety. I did go into anaphylatic shock once (allergic reaction to something) and my throat closed up. I suggest you get yourself to Urgent Care pretty quickly. Take care!

Its a mental thing for me or atleast I believe so, goes away after I drink alcohol, NO im not goona pick up a drink but I think that proves its anxiety based. Need to talk to a therapist about it because its making me MISERABLE !

I'm sure it is a scary feeling. Do whatever you need to do to take care of yourself. Sending positive vibes and prayers.

I did suffer that during withdrawal... My sister also suffered it, non alcohol related.. It is fairly common in people with anxiety.. I seem to recall beta blockers helped her... best have a word with your Quack..

I agree that talking to your dr is the way to go. If you can't eat or drink properly that's definitely not a good situation.

I suffered from some pretty serious health anxiety towards the end of my drinking as well as in my early stages of sobriety. If you don't have an appointment yet with your doc or a therapist as you suggest, i'd make one now. It is a very treatable condition.

Be warned that drinking will actually make it worse, not better. Once you get to the stage where you need to drink to get rid of the symptoms, it snowballs. Take it from someone with experience....you do NOT want to go there.

I agree with the consensus Chilledice - you need some outside help with this one, mate.
See a Dr.

Yes, time to reach out for outside support.

Any chance you can try and get a smoothie down with some nutrition? I did this during withdrawals.

Whenever it comes to liquids I just have to try and swallow it as fast as I can, its a mental thing with me.

I had that for a little while, I was really hungover and eating toast and felt like it was stuck in my throat and I panicked, my mind hung on too that thought for awhile. So I would over think eating and then end up nearly choking lol it's a viscous circle..... What sorted Me out was reading medically once the food is chewed and swallowed it's impossible to choke......
Hope that helps..
