first cr meeting tonight

I'm so stupid nervous about going to my first meeting.

I have to leave my daughter with a short for the first time and face going to three meeting alone.

Stuff like this makes me so anxious. Ugh!
My stomach is in knots. Worst part? The meeting is during her bed time and its so frustrating to me.

I too was a nervous mess going in. I was made to feel VERY welcome and it ended up being a great experience. I am now leadership in CR and just agreed to co-lead a 12 step study. It has been one of the most helpful and rewarding things of my life.

Good luck to you. Let us know how it goes, and STOP being nervous!

spia, I don't have CR experience, but I suspect my Alanon experience is probably pretty close, in the ways that matter. I wasn't afraid before my first meeting; in fact, I RAN out the door of my house, knowing w/absolute certainty that I could not go thru this alone. However, I had prior Alanon experience in my early 20s, so it wasn't new for me.

Don't let the fear get the best of you. Again, I haven't been to CR, but I have to imagine that you'll be welcomed warmly and made to feel right at home and well supported.

Kudos to you for reaching out for help--I feel sure that your life is going to change for the better in ways you can't even imagine yet.

Please stop back and tell us how it went, OK?

I'm beyond nervous. My daughter has been fussy all day. And these meetings last two hours plus driving time. So the hours away from my little one. I might have a panic attack. I've never been away from her.

You'll be OK, spia. Turn everything over to your Higher Power. That's what it's for, right?

"Courage is just fear that has said its prayers and decided to go forward anyway."

You can do it.

I thought it was interesting. I was anxious and felt like the new kid. I'm super awkward around people. But, found them friendly and bluntly honest. I'm not used to puerile just sharing

Hello Spia!

I am glad you went and gave it a try! Putting a little time into yourself is worth every moment away from your child. It is going to make you a better parent and partner.
