First Saturday morning sober
First Saturday morning sober
This is the first Saturday morning I've woken up sober in as long as I can remember. Slept for nearly 12 hours last night - the dreams are still as vivid but not as scary, just confusing. I can deal with confusing.
I feel kind of sluggish this morning, but good. It's a strange feeling, but a welcome one. It was so nice not to wake up feeling sick, being sick and with a thumping headache. Not to mention the taste in the mouth ...yuk!
I just wanted to say thank you to everyone here. I would never have got through my first week without SR. One day at a time though. I can't think about the long haul just now, it's too overwhelming

My 3rd Saturday this morning. Awesome feeling isn't it? Great day here in Melbourne, already been out on the motorbike once, about to go to a local cafe for lunch on it soon. Keep up the great work!

Great job! My whole life I've heard people say "it's the little things " in life that matter. Now I get it. The big things don't matter if you don't have the little ones like a healthy mind, body + spirit. A beautiful Saturday indeed.
Nice work, it's certainly an amazing feeling to actually feel refreshed upon waking rather than beat up from the inside out (which, of course, drinking alcohol actually does to us).
Although it's become "the norm" for me now to wake up sober I still massively appreciate it and understand how much better it is than the alternative. That first cup of coffee after a long sleep is one of the best things in the world.

Fantastic to hear! That is quite a stretch of good sleep. I am sure your body is thanking you. =)
It is my Saturday morning here on the East coast. I am enjoying a hot cup of coffee to get my weekend started. Make it a good one!

Reddragonfly...It does feel great to not be hungover on a Saturday! It's also my first Saturday in a while too. I was a weekend binge drinker...I'd wait all week and once Friday came I'd down at least 8 beers and smoke a lot of cigs to catch up from the week and to try to keep up with my husband (who is still sleeping and probably hungover btw!!). It feels nice to wake up and feel refreshed rather than blurred vision, headache, nausea, the shakes, and moody!!! We can do this!!!!
You are so right in this, and I hear you. I'm under no illusion as I've tried this before, a few times. I even did a few meetings, but I always ended up slipping back. It's my AV I fear most
