Double digits baby! Day 10 here I come!
Double digits baby! Day 10 here I come!
woo-eeee, yesterday was a rough one. I had to fight some pretty heavy cravings during the evening hours. But coming on here and reading and posting got me through and I am safely sober here on day 10. I know there are plenty more of those moments to come and I need to be prepared and to do so I cannot let my guard down.
However, it is a lovely morning here and I am relishing in the real, true joy of being sober, feeling healthy and not fighting feelings of depression, anxiety, guilt and shame that were daily torments while I was still drinking.
I posted this on my first post and despite being repetitive I'm gonna post it again gosh-darnit! It is a very special song to me, my boyfriend shared it with me when I was in a very dark spot, to remind me of all the good there is. I have made it my theme song and thus also my user name. Listen and enjoy and remember they invented the SEA for you Now isn't that something else??? All for YOU! Even your sorrow could heal someday! Wonderful!

E vero, credetemi è accaduto/ it's true, believe me, it happened
di notte su di un ponte/ one night on a bridge
guardando l'acqua scura/ while i was looking at the dark waters
con la dannata voglia/ feeling the damned impulse
di fare un tuffo giù uh/ to dive into them
D'un tratto qualcuno alle mie spalle/ suddenly someone behind me
forse un angelo/ perchance an angel
vestito da passante/ disguised as a passer-by
mi portò via dicendomi/ took me away saying
Così: Meraviglioso/this: wonderful
ma come non ti accorgi/ can't you see
di quanto il mondo sia/ how the world is
meraviglioso/ wonderful
Meraviglioso/ wonderful
perfino il tuo dolore/ even your sorrow
potrà guarire poi/ could heal someday
meraviglioso/ wonderful
Ma guarda intorno a te/ take a look around you
che doni ti hanno fatto:/ at all the gifts they offered you
ti hanno inventato il mare eh/ they invented the sea for you
Tu dici non ho niente/ you say you have nothing
Ti sembra niente il sole!/ does the sun seem nothing to you
La vita,l'amore/ and what about life, love
meraviglioso/ wonderful
il bene di una donna/ the love of a woman
che ama solo te/ who loves only you
meraviglioso/ wonderful
La luce di un mattino/ the light of the morning
labbraccio di un amico/ the hug of a friend
il viso di un bambino/ the face of a child
meraviglioso/ wonderful
meraviglioso/ wonderful
Ma guarda intorno a te/ take a look around you
che doni ti hanno fatto:/ at all the gifts they offered you
ti hanno inventato il mare eh/ they invented the sea for you
Tu dici non ho niente/ you say you have nothing

La vita,l'amore/ and what about life, love
meraviglioso/ wonderful
La notte era finita/ th night was over
e ti sentivo ancora/ and i could still feel you
Sapore della vita/ taste of life
meraviglioso/ wonderful

Even positivity won't stop that bastard AV. Arrived at the beach with my kids and she said to me "go on, it's a beautiful day, pop by the bar for just ONE glass of white. You can sip on it slowly and relax. It's only 11am so surely you won't overdo it". Grrrrr.
I just need to deal with the fact that it is like a disgusting horse fly that just won't go away. So I swatted and swatted and finally she got bored and left me in peace to enjoy my sober day. I'm now relaxing on the beach with a nice, cold soda water and lime. Phew!

Nice on day 10!
Do you have any live support group contact where you live? It sure helps with those horseflies, for me at least. I found it impossible to do on my own, though it wasn't through lack of effort!!!
Sounds like you are on the right track!

I so wish I did, but unfortunately, no. This group here is my only source of support- thank goodness it is proving to be a great one for me. I am seeing a therapist. Well I was and soon will be again. She told me that she couldn't really get any place with me if I was to continue drinking so we mutually decided to take a bit of a break. I'm going to get to 2 solid weeks and give her a call for a new appointment.
Love it Charlie! Fortunately it is no race, we can all head down the path to sobriety each one of us in our places, some ahead, some behind, supporting each other the whole way. Let's keep at it, I'll keep looking for you to be right behind me and I'll do my past to steer the way.

Good for you! Therapy is live support and professional!
You have created a light around yourself in a brief period, that's awesome. Obviously you are a very special person!
Glad you are so open and responsive - helps everyone!!!
peace
congratulazioni per il tuo giorno speciale!
Great job on the double digits
Keep posting you're doing great and I love your posts. My love of Music superseded my drinking too and, music is always all around me!
Enjoy your day and feel proud!

Don't forget H.A.L.T. ( hungry, angry, lonely, tired). I could add a few more, restless, anxious, bored, empty, the list goes on. But a sure way to overcome is to recognize the AV is not you, it is your worst enemy. It comes at us out of the blue, when we are not not even aware that we are vulnerable. Fight it, sometimes you need to treat yourself, have some ice cream, a peaceful nap, a long run, whatever it takes. Let someone supportive know how you are feeling, just like you've been doing. Just don't drink.
