My AV is haunting me

I just learned that abbreviation but can now relate to it.

My husband just informed me that he was going out for drinks with his buddies after dinner. My first thought was, "if I go get a bottle after he leaves he will never know." I even envisioned the buzz I would have.

I recognized the threat and reminded myself that I was quitting for ME not Him. Drinking would only set me back.

Thanks for listening.

Welcome to SR mesmith, great screen name btw , the image of a 'self' maker

Once I took drinking off the table as an option and began using that as a response to any AV rumblings , it started to get the idea I was serious and started to slowly but surely get weaker and come around less often. Starve that bugger out, it just wants alcohol , it doesn't care about the damage alcohol causes for our lives. Starve it out! It lies, laugh at it and tell it to shut the you know what up.

Yes, once you make the shift and commit to yourself to stay sober, it makes things easier to deal with. I'm glad you got through that.

Hi mesmith,

Nice job reeling it in My husband still drinks as well and it was like doing a tango with my arms behind my back in our house for a bit after I stopped drinking. A little awkward. Going about our afternoon, evening and weekends definitely felt a little off for about a month.

You are doing a great thing for yourself. Keep it up!
