Making an effort

I am sober today. I don't know what tomorrow will bring so I am just going to take it slow.

That's all we can do One day at a time. Hell, one second at a time if need be.

I can make you a promise about tomorrow. If you don't drink today, you won't wake up with a hangover. I guarantee.
Welcome aboard and post as often as you like.
Best to you.

Thank you all for the kind words, and right out of the gate. Officially on day 2. It's not my first time around the block either. In 2012 I had 6 months, but failed to let a St. Patty's Day slip by me From that point it was just a constant battle of self loathing and broken promises (to myself). I failed again with 30 days under my belt. This was just last month.....ON MY 40th BIRTHDAY!!! I went on a bender and thankfully landed comfortably on my feet this past Sunday night. I am really optimistic this time around, and I truly WANT to succeed. I want to wear my sobriety as a badge of honor, not a mark of shame. Glad to be involved in this community.

Hi InWriting,

Welcome! Yes, focus on not drinking today. You can already think about what you'll do differently tomorrow, though. I got sober ~ one month before my 40th birthday. A month after is just as good; it'll be a nice thing to remember this anniversary many years down the road
