Ice cream.
Went down to Chinatown on the Fourth with a friend for dinner. I've learned where some of the places are. We shared soup with shrimp dim sum, roast duck with rice and vegetables, and a vegetable roll. The bill came to sixteen dollars. We went shopping in a Chinese grocery store which, in itself is quite an adventure.
We then made our way to Little Italy where there was a fair taking place. We stopped at Ferrara Bakery (a must-visit for visitors) and had gelato. She had chocolate and I had salted caramel. Heaven.
She wanted to see the World Trade Center, so we took a walk. The new tower is almost finished but still under construction. The whole area's look has changed dramatically. There's a 9/11 museum -- complete with a gift shop, of all things -- but we decided that this was aimed at tourists and had the potential to have a strong tackiness ratio, so we didn't stop in. It also has a twenty-five dollar admission fee.
There are now two very large pools that have taken the place of the base of each of the two towers.

And to continue with my Asian theme, we just finished watching Godzilla. Trashy, but in a good way, and it features Byian Cranston sporting one of those God-awful wigs that you can't stop staring at.

Ok, don't excommunicate me from the ice cream gang because I partook in about a half a gallon tonight, but I wanted to share my alternative for the off nights when your pants are getting too tight,
Costco has these ginormo bags of frozen pineapple and frozen cherries.
Get you a big old bowl and load up !!
Totally guilt free sobriety munch.

Dang it, alpha! Now I'm on the lookout for a Dairy Queen. If you don't have them, it's a chain that has decent fast food and great ice cream treats.
They make a Hawaiian Blizzard. Soft serve vanilla with pineapple and coconut blended in. OOOoooooooh.
