Little Fly
I became fixated watching a fly this morning. I was on a bus going to work when I noticed a little fly on the window outside. The bus was, for the fly, hurtling along in the wind and the rain but the fly clung on to the window. I actually felt fear that his wings would be ripped off or that he'd be blown away - but it never happened. Even though he was being pushed backwards slowly and slowly he clung on until finally the bus stopped and he could fly away. I actually felt relieved!
It wasn't until afterwards that I realised what a lovely metaphor that is for the journey we're all taking. In the end, we will be free.

Prynne, thanks for posting this. I was on a walk the other morning and saw a worm on the sidewalk. Half of it was dried up, dead and stuck to the pavement. But the OTHER half was alive and wiggling its way to try to get free and to regenerate itself. I too looked at this as a symbolic struggle.
I saw it as the worm not giving up hope despite the adversity. Conversely, if the worm was struggling to try to make it to the liquor store to keep feeding the dead part, that would be tragic... Well I am pretty sure the worm was not an alcoholic (hahaha), but it made for a good story in my own mind!
What it did reinforce was active participation in making changes, something that I think we all need to do everyday. Have a good one.
