Getting Bloodwork done

I am 36 years old and have drank on and off usually binge drinking since I was 22 years old. My drinking has really escalated the past 3 years or so since going through a divorce to sometimes an 18 pack of beer a night. I am really scared that I have liver disease as I have right side pains. Back in Sept I had a colonoscopy and endoscopy and all came back good but I stupidly started drinking again. I had a Dr look at me and they pushed around on my stomach and said that they did not feel anything but wanted to do some blood work and a urine sample. I am awaiting to hear the results but am scared and fear the worst. I have not had a single drop of alcohol for 3 weeks and do not miss it at all. If I can get well I wont touch it ever again. I have a 4 year old son that I need to think about. It has been lonely here in Austin, Tx though since everyone seems to drink around here but my health is more important than that.

Worrying about it won't change anything. Try to get your mind off it.

I drank 26 years and all my work came out fine, just saying. It is amazing what our bodies can go through and then repair if we give it time.

I hope everything comes out okay.

Fear, worry and anxiety are not going to change the outcome of that blood work. There is nothing, zilch, nada that you can do to change the past or what those numbers will read.

All worry gets you is worry. It changes nothing about the situation.

What you can change is what you will do about it. If the numbers come back poorly, then you need to clean up your act and move forward. If they come back great, you still need to clean up and look forward. Same outcome.

You've made a good decision in going to your dr and in coming here for support.

Congratulations on 3 weeks sober.

Drs are great, no point in dealing with the ifs and maybes of the situation, better dealing in the facts!!

Hey mwells! Welcome to the forum and congrats on the good body news. Sounds like you took a lickn' and kept on tick'n.

So now what are you thinking about with regards to keeping alcohol out of your life?

I am definitely keeping alcohol out of my life. It has not done any good for me at all except make me hurt and cost a lot of money. I have been trying to meet people here in Austin, Tx that do not drink that seems easier said than done lol
