This is as big of an achievement as anything I've done, gonna pat myself on the back for this one. Early on it seemed that I was never gonna quit having cravings and now I can't remember the last time I had one. I used to hate myself for not having any willpower over chemical substances but as time sober has gone by now and I have relentlessly persued "why", I realize willpower has nothing to do with addiction. From a book I've read these sentences have made me understand just how powerful chemicals are over our physical bodies. Urges are only uncontrollable in some contexts in which the competing influences do not match up to the allure of intoxication. The problem for addicts, then, is that the negative consequences of their behavior do not match up to the immediate gratification that their addictions provide. They would prefer to not be addicted but that requires prolonged abstention, which is more difficult. When we talk about the choices made by individuals, there are multiple influences and drives that compete for these decisions. The competing influences are family, husband, wife, kids, friends, jobs, homes, most everything out there in the world. Addiction hi-jacks willpower and uses it for it's needs. Support from caring people has helped more than anything else I believe, and I thank you all for being here, rootin for everyone.

That's super awesome that 2 years! Big congratulations!
It's not easy, and this post reminded me that addictions really have nothing to do with willpower. I fully agree with this. The chemicals hi-jack the body.
Fantastic post and fantastic achievement!
